Here’s the trailer for Trick r’ Treat, folks. The cool thing about it is, if you stick your face really close to the screen and turn the volume way up, it will scare the bejesus out of you. Then again, if you did the same thing with a trailer for Bambi, it’d probably scare you, too. You know what a baby deer’s tail looks like close up? The Saw franchise hasn’t seen nothing.
Trick r’ Treat comes from writer/director Michael Dougherty, who wrote the script for Superman Returns (ahh, you fucking hack) and X2 (oh, well … ) and Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (…?). The movie has been making the festival rounds for the last year or so, and it’ll head straight to DVD on October 6th. It has a decent cast for what’s, ultimately, a straight-to-DVD horror movie: Dylan Baker, Brian Cox, Leslie Bibb, and Tahmoh Penikett. Also, the trailer is edited in such a way that it shows a few glimpses of a woman who looks like Anna Paquin, but she’d never be in a movie like … what? That is Anna Paquin? Oh, sweetie. You have an Oscar, you know. (oooh. SRL idea: The Five Oscar Winners and Nominees who have fallen the farthest).
Anyway, check out the trailer. There are a ton of fawning quotes from critics in it, although they’re all from fanboy sites, so take it with a grain of Doritos salt and a doobie. If it were really that great, you think it’d go straight to DVD?
