Trailer: SWINTON Plays A Mad Scientist (With Great Hair) In Bong Joon Ho's Okja
As follow-up to the heralded post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer, South Korean writer/director Bong Joon Ho is teaming with Plan B to bring us a tender monster movie called Okja. Previously, we learned SWINTON would be reuniting with the visionary helmer for this film. And now Netflix has unveiled the first look at her and its titular beast.
According to THR, Okja is about “a young girl who lives in the deep woods of South Korea’s mountainous Gangwon Province with a ‘massive animal’ named Okja, and does everything in her power to find her best friend when Okja disappears.”
The young heroine at the film’s center is played by South Korean actress Seohyun An, who’ll co-star with SWINTON, Jake Gyllenhaal (who looks marvelous in it), Paul Dano, Lily Collins, and Steven Yeun. And the special effects for its hero beast will be supervised by Life of Pi Oscar-winner Erik-Jan de Boer. So, you can bet Netflix will be bringing us something sensational this summer.
Okja will premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 28th.
