Everyone loves trailers. Well, except citizens of New Orleans after Katrina. Or public school teachers facing an expanding student body and insufficient building space. And pizza delivery drivers. For the rest of you, Thursday’s massive trailer dump should being smiles to your faces.

First up is Everest, from 2 Guns (objectively the most Denzeliest goddamn movie of 2013) director Baltasar Kormakur, based on the incredible book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. Kormakur rounded up an absurd cast — Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, Kiera Knightley, Jason Clarke, John Hawkes, and House of Cards setmates Robin Wright and Michael Kelly (who plays Krakauer) — for the story of two rival Everest expeditions that encounter a lethal storm while attempting to summit the mountain. Despite occasional forays into cliché — sonogram pictures, tearful phone calls — this looks appropriately intense. (September 18th)

The Walk
Anyone interested in a Robert Zemeckis 3D remake of the acclaimed documentary Man on Wire? Hello? Is everyone dead? What if I told you Joseph Gordon Levitt plays Philippe Petit, the French daredevil who performed an audacious, clandestine tightrope walk between the two World Trade Center towers in 1974? Oh, now you’re in. As unnecessary as this dramatized version appears to be, Zemeckis’ remake admittedly looks like an entertaining combination of heist caper and adventure film. (October 2nd)

Rejoice, fans of Michael Fassbender, OG mad kings and classic challenging dialogue written in iambic pentameter. The Macbeth trailer is here. I’m not really sure what’s happening in this movie because the only shake spear I enjoy is the scene in Ace Ventura 2 when Tommy Davidson chucks the javelin at Jim Carrey’s leg. Bumble Bee tuna. Anyway, Macbeth certainly looks like a visually stunning Very Serious Film filled with tears and slow-motion battle scenes that I’ll probably lie about watching come Oscar season. (October 2nd)

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Why don’t the Mission Impossible movies ever come up in discussions about the best franchises of the last 20 years? The Tom Cruise-led series is as consistently watchable as any comic book universe or action tentpole released in the last decades. Mission Impossible? Great. Mission Impossible 2? A few too many doves and Dougray Scott scenes. Mission Impossible 3? Great. Mission Impossible 4? FUCKING GREAT! And now we have the second full trailer for Christopher McQuarrie’s Rogue Nation, which features Cruise, fellow half-pint Jeremy Renner, Scotty, Tony Bennett and Marcellus Wallace in a GamerGate hat taking on an “anti-IMF” organization called “The Syndicate.” Gargantuan stunts, witty dialogue and Cruise putting his life on the line for a preposterous shot. Really nothing more you can ask for in a summer flick. (July 31st)
