We’re all excited for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar; don’t even try to deny it. Matthew McConaughey leads as Cooper, an engineer/pilot who leaves his family behind in search of a habitable planet via a newly discovered wormhole. The first trailer made us feel small and broke our hearts; the second, reminded what we’ve accomplished, made us ponder what might lie ahead. Throughout both, McConaughey’s narrative drawl pulled in our emotions, but let’s get real; we’re also in this for the cool space stuff: wormholes and time travel and robots (oh my). So when you check out the new footage in this latest teaser, don’t blink, or you’ll miss Cooper’s nifty sidekick. There’s also the revelation (previously hinted) that “Every hour spent on that planet will be seven years back on Earth,” which explains Cooper’s agony when he must leave his kids. Anyway, enough of me rambling, check out the trailer:
Is this not THE COOLEST?
(H/T the mister)
It’s like Nolan brought pieces of one of those wooden brain teaser puzzles to life.
I suppose now we should get back to wondering how the entirety of the Earth’s population is going to get to the new planet, and agonizing over whether Cooper ever sees his family (Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck) again, but it was nice to be distracted by that walking monolith…what shall we call it — “Kubrick”?
Interstellar is in theaters November 7th.
