The Star-Studded People vs. O.J. Simpson Trailer Is Strangely Intriguing
I have to admit that when we first heard that Ryan Murphy was doing another anthology series, and the first entry was to be about the O.J. Simpson trial, my brain was pretty confused. At first, it seemed offensive. Haven’t those families been through enough? Didn’t we as a nation already run that whole mess into the ground?
Then the writing team spoke about the trial’s humorous aspects, and how through its course certain people became “personalities” (caricatures), which is true but again, it was all coming off rather crass. Still, seeing snippets over the past few months of American Horror Story I couldn’t deny my curiosity, especially after spying John Travolta, who makes for an eerily compelling Robert Shapiro, and holy hell, have you heard about the cast?
Connie Britton, Courtney B. Vance, Cuba Gooding Jr., Bruce Greenwood, Nathan Lane, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Sarah Paulson, Steven Pasquale, Kenneth Choi, Selma Blair, Christian Clemenson, Cheryl Ladd, Jordana Brewster and the Kato Kaelin of the acting world, David Schwimmer (I just cannot take him seriously).
Paulson makes for an excellent Marcia Clark (although I really wish someone would give her a role where she doesn’t cry), and I’m a little ashamed to say, I’ll probably check this out.
Does it even matter if this thing goes off the rails? You know it’s going off the rails…
American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson premieres on FX February 2, 2016.
