When Foxcatcher premiered at Cannes this year, all anybody was talking about was Steve Carell. I mean, yes, I guess there were some murmurs about Channing Tatum as well, but Carell was the real talk of that French town. And for good reason. As we saw in the movie’s first trailer, he’s super dramatic and prostheticed up, and I think he may have actually changed his middle name to Oscar for all people were dropping that word.
But a marketing shift has taken place, and with this new wave, Foxcatcher is putting Channing Tatum front and center. First this poster came out last week:
Oh, I’d marvel his physicality.
And now this new trailer, which focuses primarily on Tater’s character.
As much as I love Steve Carell, I understand this move. Even in his least sexy role to date (just personal taste, the headbashing doesn’t do it for me), you always put Channing Tatum front and center. In a wrestling onesie. Nobody puts onsied Charming Potato in a corner.
