Steve Carell Goes Full Robin Williams As Charming Potato's Demented Coach: 'Foxcatcher' Trailer
One of Robin Williams’ best roles — it still haunts me to this day — is as whackadoodie One Hour Photo lab employee, Seymour Parrish. Until that point, I’d no idea he had something so dark in him, and it was damned cool to see Williams’ transformation. It looks like Steve Carell is headed down his own path of darkness as schizophrenic, amateur sports sponsor John du Pont. Foxcatcher is an adaptation of Olympic and World champion wrestler Mark Schultz’s (Channing Tatum) autobiography. Du Pont was involved with both Mark and his brother David (Mark Ruffalo), also an Olympic and World champion; in fact the two were the first brothers to win titles in the same Olympics (1984), and (according to their wiki) the only brothers to win both Olympic and World medals. Without spoiling the story, let’s just say du Pont’s involvement with the Schultzes ended in tragedy. Check out Carell all prosthetics and gravel-voiced…
Directed by Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball), and co-starring Vanessa Redgrave, Anthony Michael Hall, Sienna Miller , Foxcatcher is currently in competition at Cannes (and receiving rave reviews, especially for Carell and Tatum), and hits theaters November 14th.
