I hadn’t seen or heard anything about Finnish director Jalmari Helander’s (Rare Exports) latest before tonight; now that I’ve seen this clip, I’m all in. In Sure, it looks a little like the winter wonderland version of Escape from New York, with young Oskari (Onni Tommila) as the Plissken to Samuel L. Jackson’s President of the United States, but that’s a good thing — right?. And check out the rest of the cast: Ted Levine, Jim Broadbent, Victor Garber, Felicity Huffman and Felicity Huffman…heck, I’m in twice. Watch this awesome clip, in which Oskari has to make a quick decision to save Jackson’s already battered President. Dudes, you’re going to need a softer freezer.
Pretty cool, right? The action/thriller/coming-of-age hybrid follows Oskari trying to help the President survive a night in the woods after Air Force One is shot down. Big Game makes its world premiere at the 29th annual Toronto International Film Festival (which began today), and opens in Germany next February.
