Former Bond man and ever twinkly-eyed Pierce Brosnan returns to his spy roots as ex-CIA operative Peter Devereaux, called back to duty and pits him against his former protégé (Luke Bracey). This adaptation of Bill Grangers’ There Are No Spies also stars another Bond veteran, Quantum of Solace’s Olga Kurylenko, as an important witness Devereaux must protect.
While this trailer doesn’t give much away, it’s nice to see Brosnan turn on that old Bond magic again; the man can still command a screen. In a recent interview, he talks about waiting for the right moment to go from Bond to what may be a new spy franchise:
“Enough time has passed from my days as Bond. I think the stage is big enough and wide enough for me to step back. You cannot push these transitions…Daniel Craig is a brilliant Bond and a Bond for his day. He owns it 100%. But I had a fairly good audience with my days as James Bond. It was fertile ground for me.”
The November Man is directed by Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job, Species, The Getaway, Cocktail, No Way Out) and co-stars Will Patton, Bill Smitrovich, Eliza Taylor and Lazar Ristovski; it hits theaters August 27th.
