No Need to Watch Ridley Scott's 'The Martian', The Whole Movie Is Right Here!

I have good news and bad news. As per usual, the good news first:

This new trailer for The Martian is fantastic!

The bad news is, it nearly tells Andy Weir’s entire story.

A little more good news; it doesn’t show the ending! And, since Weir’s novel is so popular, most of you have probably already read it, know the ending and therefore, won’t care that the trailer plays out the whole plot. Then again, what’s the point of watching an over-informative trailer if you really want to see the movie?

Decisions, decisions. I leave it up to you, people.

I do have to say that Matt Damon is an excellent choice to play Mark Watney, and I guess I’d better hurry up and finish the last hundred pages, because I’m going to watch the fork out of this movie. It looks like Sir Scott may just be able to get past that Exodus mess — could this be the director’s return to greatness?

In a related aside, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Scott’s Prometheus 2 is holding up Neill Blomkamp’s hotly anticipated Alien 5, which may now be looking at a 2018 release. Their sources at 20th Century Fox say Ridley wants Prometheus 2 made first (expected release is 2017). Scott will serve as a producer on Alien 5.

The Martian also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor,Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña and Donald Glover; it hits theaters October 2nd.
