The first teaser trailer for Nightmare on Elm Street gave us a little taste of Freddy’s back story — this one tells us what we’re in for. And what we’re in for is another Michael Bay horror film. Granted, Jackie Earle Haley looks and sounds flat-out phenomenal. But it’s another series of vanilla teenagers who will unfortunately dominate much of the screen time. Kyle Gallner is absolutely obnoxious — he’s a series of pained expressions in whatever film he’s in. The good news is that there will be no debating where our rooting interests will lie: Freddy Krueger. That is, unless he messes with Connie Britton — who plays the “heroine’s” (Rooney Mara) mother.
I hope it’s Connie that gets to take out Freddy in the end. And I hope she does it with a terrible impression of Sandra Bullock, as retribution for stealing her shtick in The Blind Side.
As bad Michael Bay horror movies go, though, this one I’m slightly enthusiastic about. I mean: How can you not be a little excited about Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy?
