New 'Kingsman' Trailer Goes Light on Plot, Heavy on Colin Firth Dapperly Kicking Ass

Remember when the first trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service came out and we were all soooo excited? And what’s not to be excited about? It’s Matthew Vaughn, doing a Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons, starring Colin Firth as a super dapper, butt-kicking Q type. Plus, Michael Caine and Sam Jackson are there!

Well, a new trailer is out, and by the looks of it, we may have a LOT to not be excited about. Where the first trailer went for a Bond-meets-Attack the Block vibe, with English spy charisma to spare, the new trailer seems to have foregone any sort of sophistication, and is just focusing on Mr. Darcy kicking people in the face. Which is cool, yes. Obviously we want to see that, don’t be silly. This definitely still looks enjoyable, just in a turn your brain off sort of way. Plus, it’s been pushed back from originally slated to open next month, to Valentine’s weekend (romance!). So…. what happened with this movie?

Also, I feel like Samuel L. Jackson now started accepting roles with an “Okay, that sounds cool, but what kinds of hats do I get to wear?”

Vivian Kane needs to start putting hat clauses in her contracts.
