Motherf*cking Space Nazis From The Dark Side Of The Moon: The Iron Sky Trailer

Today I’m forced — no, compelled — to bring you another crowd sourced movie project that you can still contribute to (if you’re into that sort of thing). Like C before it, Iron Sky is a science fiction project set in the not-too-distant future and involves space in some way. Unlike C, Iron Sky is less a realistic take on galactic travel and more about Space Nazis up and invading Earth, as if the Martians in Mars Attacks spoke German and heiled Hitler. Because, duh-doy.

Here’s the synopsis:

Towards the end of World War II the Nazi scientists made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne (Black Sun) on the dark side of the Moon. This base was to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right.

Now it’s 2018, and it’s the time for the first American Moon landing since the 70s. Meanwhile the Nazi invasion, that has been over 70 years in the making, is on its way, and the world is goose-stepping towards its doom. The three main characters of the story are Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), Klaus Adler (Götz Otto), and James Washington (Christopher Kirby).

Iron Sky will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, so you know Keanu will be in attendance. But the filmmakers need assistance with distribution and are asking for up to 900,000€, which doesn’t seem like very much if I understand the way commas work overseas. Here’s the trailer to see if you’re interested in investing, or if you just like rolling around in awesomesauce (NSFW for language, headphones in, people!):

I don’t know, after FDR, American Badass, I think I’m becoming numb to the whole farcical historical horror/sci-fi genre. Which isn’t great for my own work, even if it is more of a pastiche (if you’re into that sort of thing). It could be that it’s just the matter of seeing so many trailers without, so far, being able to see the full movies. Like we’re constantly being cinematicaly rack jacked. But maybe you’re still excited about this sort of thing and can actually see yourself helping to fund the budget?

If so, but you’re on a budget (and I’m assuming that because if that’s the case, then most of your cash must go toward funding your habit), I would highly recommend the “Gegen Raumnazis” “badge,” which translates as “Against Space Nazis.” Because, of course you aren’t if you get it. Too bad it’s already out of stock. Thankfully, the Collector’s Edition DVD is available for 300,000€, which translates into nearly $400. Is that normal in Europe? Seems a bet expensive to me, but I guess you can’t put a price on owning a piece of future history.

Admittedly, the poster is pretty radass:

Rob Payne also writes the indie comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar, and his ware can be purchased here (if you’re into that sort of thing). He’s pretty sure using “pastiche” is fairly “pretentious,” but so, probably, is his use of “pretentious.”
