I probably don’t need to say anything other than, “Hardy, DeCaprio, beard” and “vengeance” to get you to watch this, but I’ll add in “Domhnall Gleeson.” Those actors aside, Iñárritu’s name alone is damned compelling, as is the true story of frontiersman, Hugh Glass, attacked by a bear, and robbed and left for dead by his expedition companions. Even if you knew nothing about its stars or the story, The Revenant trailer’s haunting images and pounding score will have your heart and mind racing, and guarantee you’re all in. Check it:
With a little convincing by Di Caprio (and Iñárritu’s “brilliant” script adaptation of Michael Punke’s novel) drew Hardy away from jumping out of helicopters and playing soldier in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell; I’ll go ahead and call that a smart choice — and this may indeed be the one that finally wins Leo his Oscar.

The Revenant also stars Will Poulter, Lukas Haas, Kristoffer Joner and Paul Anderson, is scored by Graeme Revell (The Crow, Below, Riddick), and hits theaters this Christmas Day.
