I’m not entirely sure what the hell is going on here, but I think I like it. Mainly because this is the kind of trailer that strikes a certain chord with me — it’s creepy, a little edgy, mysterious and hints at a darkness and depth that I hope the film succeeds in maintaining.

Kill List is directed by Ben Wheatley, who directed Down Terrace, a film that garnered some solid praise on the festival circuit last year. I caught Down Terrace at IFFB last year, and had mixed feelings. Parts of it I adored, but I felt like as a whole, it missed the mark by a bit. Still, it was a promising debut, and it looks like Wheatley is mining darker territories for Kill List (read Prisco’s review of it from SXSW here).

Here’s the synopsis, since the trailer (thankfully) tells you very little:

Eight months after a disastrous job in Kiev left him physically and mentally scarred, ex-soldier turned contract killer Jay, is pressured by his partner Gal, into taking a new assignment. As they descend into the dark, disturbing world of the contract, Jay begins to unravel once again - his fear and paranoia sending him deep into the heart of darkness.
