Is This The Film That Will Finally Make Alison Brie a Legit Movie Star?

Our love affair here at Pajiba with Alison Brie is epic, dating back years to a time even before she was the Internet crush of the moment. We may have questioned our faith in Brie from time to time, and confused her cleavage for Joel McHale’s buttcrack, but she’s not in the Pajiba 10 Hall of Fame for nothing.

Nevertheless, as much as we have loved her over the years on Community and Mad Men, she is one of three actors we singled out as someone we love whose movies we should avoid at all cost. One of the other members of that exclusive club is Adam Scott, and lo and behold, both are featured in the upcoming movie, Sleeping with Other People, which debuted at film festivals earlier this year.

In fact, when I posted “Three Actors You Love Whose Movies You Should Avoid At all Cost,” several critics who had seen Sleeping with Other People at Tribeca all chimed in to suggest that that post would be rendered completely moot by the end of the summer.

Critics have been slobbering all over the film, which also stars Amanda Peet, Natasha Lyonne, and Jason Mantzoukas (the latter of whom has also not had the best luck in the movie world, yet).

With Community likely ending, let’s hope that Sleeping with Other People finally elevates Brie to where she belongs: A legitimate force in film.

I am so in, and after a summer that has been light on buzzy indie flicks, Sleeping with Other People couldn’t come at a better time. It opens on … oh, um, September 11th.
