I’m not usually one who goes for schmoopy love stories, in fact, I actively avoid them. But everything about Michel Gondry’s (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Be Kind, Rewind) upcoming adaptation of Froth on the Daydream is drawing me in. Set against the backdrop of a surrealistic Paris, Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou play fated lovers Colin and Chloé, immediately drawn to each other. When Chloé becomes strangely (a flower begins to grow in her lungs) ill on their honeymoon, Colin discovers a just as bizarre remedy…
My word, the visuals are gorgeous; Duris and Tautou are gorgeous too — and they’re selling it in every frame of that trailer. The music, Colin’s cool and quirky inventions…I want to go to there.
Mood Indigo also stars Omar Sy, Gad Elmaleh, Charlotte Le Bon and Aïssa Maïga, and finally reaches U.S. theaters July 18th.
