When I heard my favorite musical ever was getting a movie I was…perplexed. See, if you’ve ever seen the stage version of The Last Five Years, it’s a tricky one with a deceptively simple production. Just two performers, only onstage at the same time for less than one song, whose timelines are running criss-cross, hers backward, his forward. Translating this to the screen would be a challenge and could prove disastrous.
But do you think for a second that I’ve been anything less than stoked from day one, especially hearing those two most magical words: Anna Kendrick? If so, you would be wrong. WATCH IT. WATCH IT AND FEEL YOUR FEELINGS.
Among other thoughts, aside from “OMG I LOVE IT SO MUCH SO MUCH JKFHDJKHDJKHG”:
A) Cathy and Jamie are forever banging.
B) Jeremy Jordan is someone I always think was a minor ’90s heartthrob who forgot to age and this does not disprove that.
C) Wayne the Snake for the win. For all the wins.
