There’s a new trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, and it’s night and day compared to the first one. The first one was a decent action showcase, but it was marred by USA movie of the week editing and an absolutely atrocious voiceover. Take a second look if you’ve forgotten. The new one, however, finally feels like a Soderbergh film. It’s slickly edited, flows together well, and makes the film look far more interesting and exciting. Whatever marketing nimrod who did the first one should receive a Gina Carano elbow to the throat.
It once again does an excellent job of showcasing MMA fighter Carano’s fighting talents, which makes sense since Soderbergh basically created the movie for her. It’ll be interesting to see how she actually acts — I’m sure the action scenes will be great, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up overshadowed by her coworkers. Understandable since it’s her first film and her costars are Ewan MacGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Bill Pullman and Michael Fassbender.
My favorite part so far is the hallway beatdown and watching Fassbender get his ass handed to him like a hat after he sucker punches her. Take that, Joanna.
Oh, and here’s the new poster, which I dig:
