Get A Look At 'GLOW,' Netflix’s Upcoming Series About ‘80s Women Wrestlers Starring Alison Brie
I’m guessing that a fair number of you have never heard of (or at least, only vaguely remember) ‘GLOW,’ a brief-yet-beloved television show from the ’80s that was half wrestling, half awkward comedy skits (so, you know, just like modern wrestling), and featured an all female cast.
Well, strap in, because it’s back! Well, kinda. Netflix’s new GLOW half-hour comedy series, led by showrunners Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange Is the New Black) and starring Allison Brie, will tell a fictionalized behind-the-scenes story inspired by the making of that fateful show. The teaser trailer is, as all teasers are, regrettably short — but trust me, it only takes 30 seconds of various sized-women in spandex gettin’ ready to grapple with each other to get you on board.
The series will be ten episodes long, and will be available to stream on June 23rd. If you want to learn more about the real-life Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling in the meantime, there was also a documentary made about the original series back in 2012 that you can rent on YouTube:
