“Fringe” ended last season with both bangs (the universes merge and now Peter doesn’t exist, what now?) and whimpers (cartoons, zeppelins and soul magnets?) enough to spin a poor cow’s udders into knots. And as a show that has been marginally on the bubble, and at the very least is not a top ten show, “Fringe” needs all the help it can get in the ratings department to ensure that it gets the chance to match JJ Abrams’ other shows and run for five seasons gradually disappointing us. Don’t mess with tradition.
So John Noble has lent the best narrative voice this side of Morgan Freeman’s to some recap webisodes to catch viewers up on “Fringe.” Says Noble: “It will tantalize and entice Fringe fans new and old, with the rich and extraordinary story we’ve been telling for 66 episodes, and prepare them for the ongoing adventures in season four.” I really can’t read that without imagining Walter chomping on a red twizzler as he turns “tantalize” into a six syllable word.
Here are the first two episodes, with more on the way. “Fringe” comes back September 23.
