Downton Abbey spoilerishness ahead, but I’ll white it out for those of you who haven’t caught up (swipe to see): *This* is what Dan Stevens so abruptly left for? I think he needs to beg for his role as Matthew back.Downton fans know the boy has charm and wit; perhaps he forgot them (ahem) by the side of the road. Adam Wingard’s (V/H/S, The ABCs of Death, You’re Next) thriller stars Stevens as David, a friend who shows up at the home of a fallen soldier, claiming to be the dead man’s friend — and doing unrequested violent “favors.” Of course, David probably isn’t who he says he is…what’s he really up to?
Not sure kicking teenagers’ butts and messing around with a sister is the way to go, David, but hey, at least Lance Reddick shows up. The Guest also stars Sheila Kelley, Maika Monroe, Brendan Meyer and Leland Orser; it slams into theaters September 14th.
Cindy Davis, (Twitter) is still going “hmm.”
