Damn It 'Jersey Boys,' Stop Manipulating My Emotions Through Song!

The first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s Jersey Boys has been released and it looks like poppy good fun. I have to say, I was absolutely crazy for this musical. I listened to nothing but Frankie Valli for about six months after I saw it. I don’t normally go for musicals, but this struck me in strong way, though I’ll admit I’m a sucker for these music biopics. They’re totally manipulative with their emotional provocation (they’re cheating with music, making me feel things!), but I don’t care. It works. I eat it up. And while this screen adaptation won’t have that larger than life grandnesss of the live show, which really took that heart-skewering musical manipulation to the next level and had me sobbing in my seat, this is still a great story with an even better soundtrack. I will bop my head. I will cry. I will love it. End of movie.
