There’s something about a Gingerheadman, amirite? Especially when it’s attached to this guy …
… who, after a brief royal stint to cleanse his Brodyfied palate, is returning to his American home: Showtime.
There’s also something irresistible about a cocky Damian Lewis (even if it is a “tiny, goddamned…”), so it’s no surprise he’ll play the appropriately dickhead-sounding “Bobby Axelrod,” a driven hedge fund king targeted by Paul Giamatti, aka U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. Billions also stars Sons of Anarchy’s Maggie Siff as Rhoades’ wife, Malin Akerman as Lara Axelrod, David Costabile and Toby Leonard Moore. Here’s your first look at Lewis and Giamatti going head to head; there’s a hell of a lot of determined glares and teeth gnashing as per usual in these sorts of I-Can-Swing-My-Dick-in-a-Wider-Swath-Than-You machismo demonstrations. Sorry Giamatti, I think Lewis will win.
Developed and written by Brian Koppelman (Oceans 13, Rounders), Andrew Ross Sorkin (Too Big to Fail) and David Levien (Oceans 13, Rounders), (pilot directed by The Illusionist’s Neil Burger), Billions will premiere on Showtime in 2016.
