Can you believe it’s been nearly four years since Kyle Chandler appeared in a television series? He delivered solid supporting roles in several well-received films — Super 8, The Spectacular Now, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and The Wolf of Wall Street — but Coach Taylor has been absent from the small screen since the East Dillon Panthers wrapped their season in 2011. Anyone upset with this gap should direct their wrath to Showtime for passing on The Vatican last fall.
Thankfully, Netflix will correct this unforgivable error on Friday, March 20 when the streaming provider releases all 13 episodes of the Chandler-led Bloodline. Created by Glenn Kessler, Todd Kessler and Dan Zelman — the trio behind FX’s frequently great Damages — Bloodline explores the complex dynamics of a powerful Florida family that’s forced to confront their troubled past when the black-sleep son (the always spectacular Ben Mendelsohn) returns to celebrate the 45th anniversary of his parents’ hotel.
Netflix released the first full trailer today, and it’s packed with dramatic tension, mysterious brooding, ominous dialogue, and gorgeous Florida imagery. Here’s my favorite scene:
Check out the preview below, which includes a smiling Linda Cardellini and a boat explosion.
Bloodline stars Chandler, Mendelsohn, Cardellini, Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepard and premieres March 20.
