Chris Evans' New Movie Can't Actually Be This Bad, Right? Is It a Joke? Performance Art? Please?
The trailer for Chris Evan’s romantic comedy Playing it Cool (formerly A Many Splintered Thing) is either the worst thing I’ve ever seen (no, YOU’RE being hyperbolic!) or the best Franco-style performance art piece ever made. Or maybe its a Funny Or Die video that just kind of missed the mark? I don’t know, you guys, I’m stumped. It can’t be a real movie, can it? It’s just too terrible. And the cast is too good. (Mackie! Monaghan!) And it’s directed by a guy whose only other IMDb credit is a short from 2010 called Zoltan: The Hungarian Gangster of Love. And THIS is the poster under the old tile:
I just… I don’t… I mean…
It’s happened. A movie broke my brain.
It looks to be every romantic comedy ever made. Like in the way that They Came Together parodied, except this one is for real. And poor Aubrey Plaza gets stuck with every mindblowingly cliché line possible. She’s a champ, though. She’s able to say “Men and women can’t be friends” and “Oh my god, you’re falling for her!” without sounding like she’s gnawing her tongue off between takes.
Please, someone explain this to me.
