Cops are shooting black people. Cops are getting shot by snipers, and Donald Trump is stoking racism, bigotry and anti-Semitism. Naturally, what this toxic environment needs is Mel Gibson making his first earnest attempt at a comeback since The Beaver five years ago with Blood Father, a pulpier version of Taken set in a nearly post-apocalyptic desert.
You know what, Mel? Why stop with a movie-career comeback. Why run put your name in the hat for Trump’s Vice Presidential slot? There’s a good 30 percent of the country that would embrace you and your bigotry, and another 10 percent who’d just vote for you because you aren’t Hillary.
America.
