Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo broke onto the scene with the mind-bending and wickedly clever horror film Timecrimes, and now he’s winning praise for his bonkers festival hit Colossal, A.K.A. Anne Hathaway’s kaiju comedy.

Hathaway stars as an alcoholic and unemployed trainwreck of a woman who goes back to her hometown to lick her wounds, then discovers that somehow her drunken self is manifesting a massive monster over Seoul. But that’s not what this newly unveiled clip is about. Instead, it’s setting up the relationship between her anti-heroine Gloria, and Oscar, a townie and childhood friend played by Jason Sudeikis. And man, it’s just—actually. Just check it out for yourself.

Okay. So this could be the kind of conversation that happens in a rom-com like Sweet Home Alabama, right? Where the big city gal has to go home and retouch her roots to find love and happiness blah blah blah. But there’s something here that suggests that’s not what Vigalondo is doing. Maybe it’s the cold color palette. Maybe it’s Oscar’s casual admitting to light stalking. Maybe it’s the kaiju in the room. But doesn’t this scene seem studded with red flags?

We’ll find out when Colossal hits theaters April 7th.
