Earlier this year, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Dogtooth (read the review here) was released via Netflix, and it promptly scrambled my brain. It was a perverse, bizarre, thought-provoking and disturbing film that I can’t recommend highly enough, as long as you’ve got the stomach for it. It was a truly inventive film, and the news that Lanthimos has a second film coming out makes me excited as all hell… and a little nervous.

Supposedly, Alps is supposed to be much funnier (it’d be hard to be less funny), but no less bizarre. Check out the plot synopsis:

A Nurse, a Paramedic, a Gymnast and her Coach have formed a service for hire. They stand in for dead people by appointment, hired by the relatives, friends, or colleagues of the deceased. Yeah. So there’s that. And below, we have the first teaser, and it’s a teaser in the truest sense of the word. It gives absolutely nothing away — just a burst of “Carmina Burana” and then some scattered footage. It’s confusing and damn if I’m not intrigued by it. Take a look.
