This Spring, Ridley Scott returns to the Alien franchise with a new terrifying chapter, Alien: Covenant. The film follows crew members of the colony ship Covenant, who are “bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.”
Now, we’ve seen the whole “charismatic crew is ripped to shreds by razor-teethed aliens” before. But Alien: Covenant raises the emotional stakes—and potentially the sex appeal—by crewing up the Covenant with couples. And in this newly unveiled “prologue,” you get to see some of the team shake it up with shots, arm-wrestling as a surprisingly alluring foreplay, and a kiss between Demián Bichir and Nathaniel Dean. Then things get real with some ruthlessly efficient heroics at the hands of Michael Fassbender and an inspirational speech from Katherine Waterston, who plays more or less the new Ripley here.
Fun fact: Waterston’s haircut from this movie was inspired by the “bad haircut” Ezra Miller had in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Seriously.
Alien: Covenant opens May 19th.
