Activist And Inspiration Amandla Stenberg Has Gifted Us A Tearjerker
A few years back, we knew Amandla Stenberg solely as the adorable little girl who brought the beloved Rue to life in The Hunger Games. But since then, this inspiring ingenue has grabbed onto the spotlight to focus it on issues like cultural appropriation, inclusive feminism, sexual orientation, and Black Lives Matter. So we’re fans, and are thrilled to see this activist/actress finally get a movie vehicle all her own.
Check out the trailer for Everything Everything, which is basically Bubble Boy meets Romeo and Juliet.
Based on Nicola Yoon’s best-selling novel and directed by Stella Meghie, Everything Everything stars Stenberg as a smart and imaginative young woman who’s spent her entire life trapped inside because of a medical condition that makes outside her hermetically sealed environment a threat. Still, she falls for the strapping boy next door (Nick Robinson), which encourages her to “sacrifice everything just to live one perfect day.”
I’m not crying. You’re crying!
Everything Everything opens May 19th.
