Early trailers for Kingsman have been sort of wonderful, wrapping quick-paced irreverence with explosions of action. It doesn’t hurt that they’ve got Colin Firth being incredibly calm and British, and Samuel Jackson playing some sort of lisping supervillain. The latter has the potential to be incredibly offensive, but I’m willing to let it slide since he’s wearing a Yankees hat, and I see that simple choice to be far more emblematic of evil than any gay stereotypes that might be Jar-Jarring their way onto the screen.
The latest trailer is red band, which means that there are a few shots of things that you see all evening on FX. Good thing the movie ratings boards is here to think about the children. Because you know they all shut this video down when they saw that it was NOT approved for all audiences. But the bright side of it is that this movie isn’t tip-toeing back down to a PG-13 disappointment, but going straight for the R-rating certificate needed for a proper action movie.
Here’s the trailer:
Kingsman is slated to open in February the same weekend as Fifty Shades of Repressed Wish Fulfillment, which means that we’re going to have to have our movie reviewers compete in some sort of tournament of will in order to determine who gets to see review which.
