I heard from Cinema Blend, who heard from New York Daily News, who heard from a set source that Halle Berry’s Storm has been almost entirely extracted from X-Men: Days of Future Past. While other sources are denying this, the set source says that Berry has only one line after the editing process. It’s also been said that Anna Paquin’s Rogue has been completely cut from the film, per Bryan Singer, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility to lose another mutant.
I heard from Bleeding Cool, who heard it from a well-connected source that Fox is putting out feelers to replace Fantastic Four director Josh Trank. This source also insists that Fox is ditching Simon Kinberg’s script. Bleeding Cool stands by their man (or woman) and other outlets are insisting that Kinberg’s three-year deal with the studio and Trank being in deep pre-production both point to this being very improbable.
Star Wars rumors are always abundant and we know that Lupita Nyong’o is in talks with J.J. Abrams for a leading role. Other supposed front-runners for the male lead role include Ed Speleers (Eragon, Downton Abbey), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Jesse Plemons (Battleship, Friday Night Lights), Matthew James Thomas (Billy Elliot), and Ray Fisher (various theater roles). Variety heard that these guys are at the top of the list to portray a young Jedi apprentice. The Latin Post also heard from The Hollywood Reporter that Nyong’o’s role would be that of a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
I also heard that Captain Marvel might be getting her own full-length movie. This is based on Kevin Feige saying that Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel has been the most discussed character for a female superhero movie. We may have to wait until Black Widow gets her movie first, but this is enough to make people start screeching about Captain Marvel showing up in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Do with all of this information what you will. We’ll see what comes to fruition and what rots on the grapevine.
