With the Launch of the Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, We've Reached Peak Cinematic Universe
Every incredibly epic hero has a cinematic universe now. Marvel. DC. Star Wars. Final Fantasy. Ghostbusters. And, now, the most epic and heroic of them all, Scooby Doo.
Aside from the latest entry in the Megan Fox/Brian Austin Green trilogy, one of the biggest announcements to come out of CinemaCon is that of the Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe, starting with a new Scooby Doo movie because we needed that desperately.
One big revelation is that the movie will be titled S.C.O.O.B., and that it’ll launch a whole new wave of potentially interlocking Hanna-Barbera movies. Yes, that’s right — Warner Bros. is planning a Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe.
As you’ll recall, we were already blessed with a pair of Scooby Doo movies courtesy of James Gunn, who wrote both films, and the holy quadrility of Freddie Prinze, Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, and a terrifying CGI dog.
This new cinematic universe could lead to more Flintstones, more Jetsons, perhaps Johnny Quest and Sealab 2020 movies. But there is absolutely only one way I am on board with this: Space Ghost Coast to Coast THE MOVIE.
