Winona Ryder Resorts to Hallmark Movie

I don’t think I need to repeat the details of the Adam Sandler curse. Suffice to say: If you’re not Drew Barrymore, and you star opposite Sandler, your career is headed toward a free fall. No one better epitomizes that free fall than Winona Ryder, who hasn’t made a good movie or a successful one (save for her small part in Star Trek) since 2002’s Mr. Deeds, even as she reconnected with her Heathers writer Daniel Waters for Sex and Death 101, which couldn’t even find traction in her toplessness.

And when Winona Ryder’s toplessness can’t sell a ticket, you know it’s the work of the Sandler curse.

So, just how far has Ryder fallen?

Hallmark Hall of Fame movie far. Co-starring with … oh … Barry Pepper, who doesn’t even have the Sandler curse to blame on his career nosedive.

When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story is about Lois Wilson (Ryder), the co-founder of Al-Anon, and her relationship with alcoholic husband Bill Wilson (Pepper), one of the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous. Apparently, Louis struggled with issues surrounding her husband’s alcoholism even after he sobered up. So she formed a 12-step program for people who can’t deal with the shit of others.

It’s airing on CBS in the spring. Because of course it is.
