Will 'The Knick' be Revived?
Last night was the season two finale of The Knick on Cinemax. I’ve seen the first season of the show, but my premium channel splurge is on HBO so I haven’t been able to watch the second season live. However, last night featured quite the cliffhanger and I know that viewers are curious about it. I can’t give you any answers, but according to Variety [SPOILERS at link] Cinemax has ordered a script for a season 3 premiere and an outline for a full third season. So far there are several key people who are planning to come back, such as series creators Michael Begler and Jack Amiel.
As for who might not be coming back? Apparently Steven Soderbergh conceived the series as a two-year story arc and Clive Owen’s contract was just for two seasons. So, the question is, which is preferable; a version of The Knick without Owen or ending the series on last night’s episode?
(Note: Spoilers will be in the comments, because this is a discussion of an episode that aired last night. If you want to avoid finding out what happened, don’t read any further.)
