Between this news and this news, I have one word: unlimited. Our future is unlimited.

Wicked will be released in December 2019 and directed by Stephen Daldry of Billy Elliot and The Reader. But here’s the REALLY exciting part: the writer be Winnie Holzman, who wrote the book of the Broadway show, but we all know her best as the creator of a little show called My So-Called Life. She’ll be of course collaborating with Steven Schwartz, the show’s composer and lyricist.

People. I have to to squee with you a minute. I. Fucking. Love. Wicked. So much. IT. HAS. EVERYTHING. Female friendship. Exploration of the idea of otherness. Motherfucking public relations. EVERYTHING.

Now. The issue, as always, will be casting. Because I assume they won’t cast Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, WHICH IS SOME BULLSHIT, but apparently 45 and 47 year olds can’t believably play college students I guess. So who do we think they cast?

The obvious choice is Anna Kendrick. It’s always Anna Kendrick. Not that there’s anything wrong with Anna Kendrick, but let’s give her a break.

The likely answers are Disney singer/actors who we’re too old to know of, perhaps a Sofia Carson, or my precious Sabrina Carpenter from Girl Meets World. Or maybe someone plucked from Broadway, like one of the Alisons from Fun Home. Please god let Joel Grey be in it. Other than that, I don’t know. I just want it to be GOOD.
