Hodor! In an interview today, Kristian Nairn spilled the beans that he and actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran Stark) will not be appearing in Game of Thrones’ fifth season. The actor told Yahoo, “We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books.”
On the upside, Nairn can extend his current DJ tour; “So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.” On the downside, we’re not going to hear a single “Hodor” for an entire season? That’s just…Hodor.
Let’s hope someone already told Hempstead-Wright.
Nairn also discussed his ongoing tour, and expressed surprise that being the series’ first openly gay actor made worldwide headlines. “When I was 13 my mum knew that I was gay and she just always knew. I used to play Wonder Woman with her when I was a kid and I was always Wonder Woman. I always stopped short of the outfit, thank God.
It was interesting to me that the world seemed to care after that…I’ve never given a damn. A seven-foot man who dresses as a woman as a job is not interested in what other people think.”
