Unlike a handful of the other major blockbusters movies coming out this year, especially this summer, Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi with Prometheus has looked impressive since the very first teaser. No complaints about any character’s voice. No worries about the costume or the casting. No qualms about the director or writers, even though one is the ever-controversial Damon Lindelof. Oh, sure, there was initial confusion about the movie’s prequel status and the possibility that it was inspired by some of the most insipid minds on the planet, but once we finally got a look at what it has to offer, Prometheus has managed to become one of the most anticipated films in an amazingly crowded year.

I’m sure some of that has to do with Scott’s workmanlike attitude and experience, as much as the big ideas and the players involved. Still, with the latest photos from the movie and its set, Prometheus continues to pitch a perfect marketing game. Everything on display here — with only few trailer bits that we’ve glimpsed before — from the sets to the individuality of the characters’ appearance generates nothing but excitement. I’m particularly fond of the spacesuit designs, which are a fun mix of 70s era science fiction and modern science fact.

As a bonus of sorts, here’s my personal favorite of the whole batch — Noomi Rapace just looks like she’s having the best time:

Rob Payne also writes the comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar, and his ware can be purchased here (if you’re into that sort of thing). He isn’t if he’d rather travel in space or a make a movie about traveling in space, but both would be pretty radass.
