It’s official: After failing the Green Lantern franchise, and after failing to get his Deadpool franchise off the ground, and while he’s still waiting to launch his R.I.P.D. franchise, the man whose biggest hit as a lead actor is still a romantic comedy, The Proposal, has been signed on to another potential franchise. This one, Highlander.
Reynolds will take on the role popularized by Christopher Lambert in the original Highlander in a reboot directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Days Later). Maybe they can get Nathan Fillion to play Kurgan and set the reboot in a Pizza Place and add a laugh track. I think you know where I’m going here. It probably wouldn’t do much worse than Reynolds’ other attempts to launch a franchise.
You’re gonna do it one day, Double R. You just keep on, keeping on until they hand you the reins to the Indiana Jones reboot.
