The prestigious and ground-breaking film series Fast and Furious continues with Fast 8 in April, 2017. The franchise that taught us about mi familia and showed us that pulling heists is a viable career option boasts a cast of acting giants like Charlize Theron, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Jason Statham. Truly, we are living in the golden age of cinema.
Diesel is already talking up the film and praising director F. Gary Gray. You may remember that Gray directed last year’s Straight Outta Compton, but received no Oscar nod for his effort. Diesel promises that this is all about to change.
“I think he went into making this movie with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, going ‘Oh, really? Ok. Now I’m going to take the biggest saga in the world, and I’m about to throw Oscars at you,’” - via Entertainment Tonight
Okay. I can’t do this. Seriously? Seriously. Diesel thinks that these Fast and Furious are the biggest saga in the world? I have some other ideas for more deserving franchises, frankly.
I’m also trying to think of a director winning an Oscar for a movie like Fast 8. There’s, um. Not really one?
I know that Diesel is given to grand pronouncements of film quality, but this is like Transformers Eleventy Billion thinking it’s going to get a director or writer nod: That’s not what these movies are for.
