Very Pretty Girl, Zac Efron, Set to Make Mean Movie About Bad People

I will say it again, people, because I have to: Zac Efron is not a bad actor. He’s made some terrible movies, and he’s been lumped in with the tween-twits. But, as Me and Orson Welles demonstrated, he’s got some ability underneath that twatwaffling coif, and if he picks and chooses wisely over the next few years, he could pull himself out of the teen movie muck.

One potential project that could help pull him out of it? Snabba Cash (translated: Easy Money) a remake of a Swedish flick what Warner Brothers has earned the rights to produce by putting up the biggest amount of cash. In the movie, Efron would play a coke dealer. The film is described as such: It “follows three interconnected storylines involving drugs and organized crime, with the main character a young man who hopes to strike it rich quickly by becoming a runner for a coke dealer.” It could be his Jared Leto moment in Requiem for a Dream, after which he could start wearing mascara and join a shitty fake-Green Day band and eventually lose all cultural relevance.

Actually, you may have noticed that Efron hasn’t been in the news much, lately. He’s got a drama coming out later this year, and maybe he’s quietly repositioning himself. You can’t sing “Are You the Music in Me” for the rest of your career, after all.

Here’s the trailer for the original Snabba Cash. Watch it, and I think you’ll recognize the appeal.
