Universal Offers Theaters Extra Security Support For 'Straight Outta Compton'
In light of the amount of theater shootings perpetrated by black gunmen over the past several years, Universal Studios is offering to help theaters beef up their security for screenings of Straight Outta Compton, the biopic about the rise and fall of legendary rap group NWA.
A spokesperson from Universal had this to say:
“Universal is proud of our association with ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ which portrays the rise of five talented young men from underprivileged and oppressed backgrounds into one of the most influential music groups in modern history.
The film has been seen by thousands of people at hundreds of screenings, all of which have happened without incident. The studio has not solicited enhanced security for theaters who will begin showing it this weekend, but has partnered with those exhibitors who have requested support for their locations.”
And thank goodness that they have, as the number of mass shootings perpetrated by armed black males continues to rise this year and never mind, I can’t even be sarcastic about this anymore, this is stupid and backwards and racist as hell. I kept waiting for the quote above to mention how black people at said screenings were ‘some of the good ones.’
It’s nice to see that we’re celebrating the release of “F-k tha Police,” a protest song against police brutality and racial profiling, with some solid racial profiling.
