Unconfirmed Hopes-Raising Rumor Time! Judd Apatow May be Bringing Gillian Jacobs to Hulu

Hulu has been producing original content for a while now, but they haven’t had any hits that come even close, recognition-wise to what’s being put out by Netflix or even Amazon. That may change though, because Judd Apatow is in talks to write, produce, and possibly direct a new comedy series for Hulu. Apatow wrote the pilot for Love along with co-writers Lesley Arfin (Brooklyn 99) and actor/writer Paul Rust (Comedy Bang! Bang!, Arrested Development), with an eye on Brent Forrester (who worked on Undeclared, a great sign) to serve as showrunner. The best part? Assuming Sony doesn’t change their minds about that sixth season on Community before Monday, when the cast’s contracts run out, Gillian Jacobs is in discussions to star.

According to Vulture,

A person familiar with the pilot script describes Love as a character-based comedy revolving around relationships, romantic and otherwise, with one (very messed-up) couple in particular at the center.
There’s also a lot of swearing and sexy times. And while we all know that “in talks” means it’s liable to get thrown into the TV pilot landfill that Hollywood is built upon, this one sure does get the hopes way up. I’ve always been a bigger fan of small screen Apatow than big, and if we’re going to see the death of Community, I’d like to see those actors go to good TV homes.
