As the saying coined when peanut butter and jelly were finally put together between two slices of bread goes, two great things that go great together. Coming up in the next six-ish weeks, the TV gods have deigned to massage our entry into a “Community”-less world by giving us two equally stimulating gifts for the upcoming holiday season. In case the headline wasn’t obvious enough, one arouses your mind and the other arouses you (or your loved one, or both, or neither). Let’s start with the mind boners first, shall we?

BBC America will air the first ever televisual experience of it’s Peabody Award winning trivia quiz show, “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” on December 23rd, 2011 just two days before the Christiany Consumer Holiday That Shall Not Be Named By Decree Of The Pinko Liberal Godtopus. All joking aside, the program will also be rebroadcast on the 24th and 25th, Christmas Eve and Christmas, respectively. The live show will simply be a live taping of the NPR program’s “2011 Year In Review” with frequent guests Paula Poundstone and Alonzo Bodden, as well as the best announcer in any medium, Carl Kassel. It will be interesting to see how they incorporate the celebrity guest(s) and the call-in players, but for his part “Wait Wait…” host Peter Sagal says his television debut will be “terrific, because I always assumed that the only way I could get on the BBC would be to have David Attenborough narrate my mating rituals.”

See? There’s totally legitimate connection to sex, and not just an excuse to talk about Victoria’s Secret…

But speaking of David Attenborough and Victoria’s Secret, it’s really too bad he doesn’t MC the lingerie giant’s annual fashion show; he could give us designer details along with the model’s dating habits as they strut their stuff down the catwalk. We’ll have to settle for Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Maroon 5 “performing” instead, as the show itself has already happened, but it won’t hit the airwaves until November 29, 2011 on CBS. By then you should have awoken from your Tryptophan coma for long enough to enjoy Victoria’s Secret public showcase of super hero and fairy tale inspired lingerie that neither you nor your loved one is ever likely to wear. Or, maybe you would? I don’t know what I’m talking about because other than a few seasons-addiction to “America’s Next Top Model” where I always picked the winner early in the cycle, I know nothing about fashion, and apparently the designs were a “total hit” with the fashionistas.

Just for the sake of full disclosure, here are a few preview shots from the November 9th taping, starting with some supposed superheroine costumery:

And now a version, I think, of Snow White that sadly is not the subject of either future film:

Which makes Adriana Lima here the evil Queen?

Now, in the interest of equal opportunityness, a super sexy shot of Peter Sagal come hithering between a pair stiletto’d stems:

And now one of Sagal and Carl Kassel goofing around. Try not to salivate on your keyboards too much:

Rob Payne also writes the indie comic The Unstoppable Force and tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar. He hopes it isn’t too late to warn you for some unexpected camel toe if you click on the first Victoria’s Secret link. This one.
