Taylor Sheridan (Sicaro) has moved from just penning tense, Oscar-nominated films into writing and directing them. His directorial debut is Wind River, a murder mystery/thriller set in the titular snow-covered Native American Reservation in Wyoming.
Wind River is a chilling thriller that follows a rookie FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past (Jeremy Renner) to investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving her mysterious death. Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, WIND RIVER also stars Gil Birmingham, Jon Bernthal, Julia Jones, Kelsey Asbille, and James Jordan. VIA
You guys, it looks really damned good. Renner’s stone face acting of late is actually an asset in this type of movie and he’s been generally good as intense characters in the past. Olsen is spectacular in most every role she lands, making this imminently watchable based on the two lead and the trailer.
Wind River hits theaters on August 4, 2017.
