Robert Downey Jr. is reportedly in final negotiations to butt heads with Chris Evans’ bootylicious (sorry!) Captain America…
I’m now required by law to insert this:
…over revealing their secret identities to the government, as mandated by the Superhero Registration Act (aw fuck, is there another Bush in office?). While Tony Stark supports the requirement — which also decrees the Avengers fight crime on the government’s behalf, and regulates their activities — our boy Rogers doesn’t want to play by those rules. Variety claims this crossover Civil War storyline introduction will also set up Downey for further Marvel adventures. No word yet on Evans’ future past Avengers/Captain America 3, though.
The full article discusses backstory on Downey’s deal almost going bad, with negotiations between the actor and Marvel Entertainment chief Ike Perlmutter being smoothed out by Kevin Feige (who seems to have a good relationship with RDJ). Downey looks to be nearly as powerful and well-off as his alter-ego, having locked down this new $40 million plus deal.
Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) are already attached to direct Captain American 3, slated for a May 6, 2016 release.
