It has been a while since I had the ol’ byline ‘round these parts. So you guys must know that a news item of great nerdity must be present, to drag me out of kinda-official semi-retirement (instead of some desperate attempt by our overlord to keep you entranced through the summer). Well, I assure it is.
Cartoon Network has revealed a new Thundercats series from Warner Bros. Animation, due in 2011. Nerd porn fan site Topless Robot got the nitty-gritty from the Toyfare website, not to mention the good title and the invoking of the Four Horsemen for the action figures. Dammit!
Now, like many of you cynical black-hearted bastards, I felt some doubt that this would be good news. Even hearing that Studio 4C (The Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight, Halo Legends, “Transformers Animated”, other awesome shit ) was going to be behind the new series, I didn’t have much in the way of hope. The delay of the CGI Gatchaman movie taught me to never love again.
I did not dare get excited about this.
Until I saw the promo image sent with the press release:
HOLYSHITBALLSFUCKYEAHTHEFORBIDDENWORDALLOVERTHEPLACE*@^%$#%[email protected]$^^%%$&^#@$^$^^#&^&&#^!
Sorry about that. It happens every time.
Also involved are some of the people behind “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” (aka “That cartoon with NPH singing”), “Teen Titans”, and “Avatar: The Last Airbender”.
Of course the question remains: can anyone make Snarf a useful character, rather than a pox on human and Thundercat-kind? I mean, damn, even ORKO had magic!
And, what would a Thundercats post be without the dirty outtakes?
Ahhhh.
