This Is The Dark Tower Adaptation We've Been Waiting For

We’ve been waiting a long time — ask Steven — for an adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series and off the top of my head, heard about at least three different accounts of how and who would run and participate in such a project. At the top of many lists to play one of the major roles is Matthew McConaughey, and a couple of weeks ago I snuck in a tidbit that he actually has been in negotiations to play the Man in Black.

It looks like not only might those rumors have been true — and if McConaughey is involved, I think there’s a real shot this thing is finally moving forward — we could also be headed for the most unfathomably brilliant film/television series ever dreamed up.

According to Deadline, this fine gentleman and 2015 Golden Globe nominee is the front-runner to play Roland Deschain:

Can you breathe, because I’m not sure I can? Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey as adversaries in a Stephen King world that will traverse across film and television. The film series will be directed and written by Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and produced by King, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Erica Huggins; a complementary television series is also in the works.

I cannot wait.
