No one not involved with the production of the show itself loved How I Met Your Mother more than me. For better or worse, I was fully on board with the show at every twist and turn until the very last one ruined me and gave me trust issues with every television show going forward. But even so, I loved this show.
And that’s why it hurts me so that they keep exhuming its bloated corpse and attempting to Weekend at Bernie’s it into something new.
A new take on a How I Met Your Mother spinoff, told from a female point of view, is in development for next season at studio 20th Century Fox TV, our sister site Deadline reports. The news comes two-and-a-half years after CBS passed on the offshoot How I Met Your Dad, starring Greta Gerwig.
The co-executive producers of This Is Us are the ones behind How I Met Your Father (because the more informal “dad” was the issue with the other one clearly), which will not feature characters from the original. Original creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas would also serve as executive producers.
Sigh.
Yes. Yes you do.
